When I embarked on this remarkable educational endeavour, I could not envisage the profound impact it would have on my leadership skills, strategic thinking and overall career growth. The programme has been a transformative and enriching experience that has equipped me with the necessary tools, knowledge, and networks to excel in the chosen domain.

When I wonder how this mid-career booster, the SMP, has been thought through, I realise that it stems from the critical challenges of my early academic career.

As a bank manager, my father's job required frequent transfers to different cities and neighbouring states. In this dynamic environment, I often found myself adjusting to new surroundings and the absence of one dedicated school that could provide consistent education. While this posed challenges, it also sparked within me a desire for self-development and a deeper understanding of leadership strategy and management. The absence of an ever-increasing appetite for learning within my cohort impacted me and hindered the formation of strong bonds and collaborations with likeminded individuals, who could have served as valuable mentors or collaborators in my career journey. Despite these challenges, I refused to let the lack of dedication to education in my cohort deter me from my own quest for knowledge.

Looking back at my career, I see how this crisis fueled my determination to grow and excel. It motivated me to seek out likeminded individuals, explore different avenues of education and establish a network of mentors, who genuinely cared for my intellectual growth.

Recognizing this need, I decided to pursue the SMP from IIMA. That journey provided me with invaluable tools, knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of leadership and management. From the very beginning, the program embraced a holistic approach, combining academic rigour with practical application. The renowned faculty meticulously crafted a curriculum that offered a comprehensive understanding of various facets of business management-ranging from finance and marketing to organizational behaviour and strategy.

What stood out in this transformative journey was the emphasis placed on leadership strategy. It went beyond conventional theories and delved deep into the intricacies of effective leadership. Through world’s renowned HBS, MIT, INSEAD, different IIMs and other case studies, interactive sessions, and peer-to-peer discussions, I gained insights into different leadership styles, the impact of decision-making and the art of braving adverse situations.

As the bustling corridors of the IIMA witnessed the culmination of the SMP for Batch 10 in 2022-23, it became evident that this flagship executive education program had empowered participants to unlock their true potential. The year-long journey brought together accomplished professionals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring a rich learning experience. This programme is more than just an academic endeavour; it is a transformative crucible that ignites participant's personal and professional growth. Through a rigorous curriculum, robust faculty guidance, and intensive experiential learning, my batch emerged as a cohort of seasoned leaders equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and skills to navigate today's complex business landscape.

The pedagogy leverages practical case studies as a powerful tool to foster critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making skills. These real-world scenarios challenge participants to develop innovative strategies and formulations, transforming theoretical concepts into tangible actions. My journey was marked by adapting these frameworks, applying them to industry-specific challenges, and creating value for their respective organizations.

The faculty played a significant role in shaping the journey of SMP. Their expertise, experience and unwavering commitment to excellence allowed participants to gain insights from the best in the business. The SMP experience extends beyond the four walls of a classroom. It encourages participants to translate their learning into tangible outcomes within their organizations. Batch 10 seized this opportunity by implementing innovative strategies, initiating change management and spearheading growth. Newcomers should enter with a mindset of practical application and leveraging the gained knowledge for real-world impact.

Utilizing diverse industry knowledge to bring all 137 cohorts of the SMP batch at IIMA on the same page refers to the process of leveraging the collective expertise, experiences and perspectives from professionals, representing various sectors and industries with over 2500 years of collective work experience. The goal is to foster understanding, collaboration and knowledge sharing among the diverse cohort to ensure a well-rounded and comprehensive learning experience. Each individual brings a unique set of skills, experiences and industry-specific knowledge to the table. By tapping into this wealth of diversity, participants can gain valuable insights and broaden their own understanding of different sectors. To achieve this, the program incorporates various interactive platforms and activities that facilitate knowledge exchanges through group discussions, case studies, workshops and industry-specific projects. These opportunities allow participants to share their respective industry knowledge, challenges, and best practices with their cohort members.

Utilizing diverse industry knowledge also promotes cross-pollination of ideas.
